Community Program Coordinator

Maverick Volleyball

   

Maverick Volleyball has been serving youth and adults in the National Capital Region since 1985. The Maverick Volleyball Club offers high quality competitive and innovative community programs for everyone. Maverick Volleyball is currently seeking an outgoing, creative, flexible, motivated, and team-oriented individual who has a passion for working with youth and who enjoys variety and working in a dynamic, exciting, and growing business environment. This position is a part-time contract for approximately 8 hours per week for 1 year (September 2013 – August 2014). Maverick Volleyball community programs include:

  • March Break Camps
  • Summer Camps (Indoor and Beach)
  • House League
  • Young Maverick Development Programs
  • Skills for Life Adult Programs

A. Major Responsibilities

Under the supervision of the President of Maverick Volleyball Corp., the Community Program Coordinator develops and manages the delivery of all Maverick Volleyball community Programs working closely with the Community Program Liaison. The main activities are:

  • In collaboration with the Maverick Volleyball technical director/committee, develop a standardized curriculum for all programs.
  • Hire, train, supervise and evaluate staff.
  • In collaboration with the Maverick Volleyball Coaching Committee develop a standardized program for training, supervising and monitoring all staff members.
  • Manage all communication with clients, including participants, parents and partner organisations.
  • Report monthly to the Executive Board.
  • Manage the logistics for the delivery of all programs.
  • Build and maintain a network of contacts with volleyball organizations, schools and other youth organizations in order to stay abreast of emerging trends, identify issues and barriers, provide advice, and align community program activities with stakeholder needs.
  • Liaise with project partners and contractors while organizing workshops, promoting project activities to municipalities, and preparing materials/reports. This includes distributing promotional material and developing relationships with local volleyball influencers and enthusiasts.

B. Qualifications and Attributes

The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications and attributes: Experience in developing youth volleyball programs and experience administering youth/community program activities (e.g., workshops, camps and programs). Experience in measuring and reporting would also be ideal.

  • Good knowledge of volleyball techniques, rules and game strategies
  • Organizational ability, interpersonal skills and versatility are requirements of the position.
  • Must be able to provide good writing services in English and French and have the ability to speak both official languages.
  • Experience with youth education, mentorship, and not for profit organisations is an asset.
  • Experience working with volunteers.
  • Excellent people skills and organizational skills.
  • Experience in administrative or office support and a good working knowledge of computer software packages such as MS Word, Excel, Outlook and social media such as Facebook and Twitter.

D. What We Offer

This is a part time independent contract position (maximum 10 hours per week) with a salary range of $22 to $28/hour.

The hourly rate will be determined based on the experience of the selected candidate. Maverick Volleyball will provide a base salary with a commission for each participant registered in a community program over and above the current number of yearly registration. We currently have 1,100 registrations per year for community programs.

The successful candidate will be required to invoice Maverick Volleyball on a monthly basis for services delivered and any applicable HST.
