My best Maverick moment! | My words of advice for those young athletes starting to play volleyball |
|---|---|---|---|
| Rex Fenton | University of British Columbia-Playing Volleyball for the Thunderbirds | Winning semi finals at Provincials | Take in as much info as you can from as many coaches as you can. Be coachable and play your own game and have your own style. Play up in age group if you can because playing against players better then you is the best way to improve your game. |
| Tyler Houghtby | Nipissing University-Playing Volleyball | Travelling to the Penn State Tournament | Keep working |
| Alex Oneid | Queens University Honour Degree in English-Playing volleyball for the Golden Gaels | 2nd at Provincials and receiving the Ken Davies Award | Don’t listen to negative people |
| Hussein Abdo | University of Waterloo - playing volleyball | “Ernest Pass the Lays” | Don’t forget your fundamentals |
| Phil James | Entering grade 12 at Glebe in September | Winning silver at provincials! | Always work 100% and it will pay off. |
| Wesley Chen | University next year-Queens or Ottawa U. | After Nationals a few guys and the coaches went out to dinner and we got talking….it was great to reminisce and tell stories… | Never stop working hard to achieve your goals. |
| Cam MacQuarrie | University of Waterloo-Playing Volleyball | My favorite mavs moment was at one of the first mental training sessions, we were doing imagery and Jay demonstrated with me finding people using memory, and he walked across the gym with his eyes closed and poked me in the eye. | the best advice I can give is if you love the sport, just keep going at it. Even if things aren’t going your way, and you feel like quitting, just keep trying and you'll eventually catch a break. |
| Anthony Pitfield | Queen’s University Engineering-Playing Middle for the Golden Gaels | Wesley running away like a girl, with a huge bee on his back | It's not enough to have potential at a sport. It's what you do with it that determines how far you can go. |
| Minh Le | Going to university (not sure which one yet) | Best Mav's moment: beating the Brandon Volleyball Club in the Power Pools at the Canadian Nationals. | Advice: Procrastinate wisely but be productive |
| Ernest Samuel | I am going to grade 12 next year. Hopefully finish high school with a really good average. | My favourite Mav moment was when we were in our second day of nationals, we were soo intense in all of our games. The last game against BVC was were we played amazing defense as a team and showed other teams that defense can win matches. | Just focus on spiking or blocking, passing and defending. Each are just as big a part in volleyball as the other. |
| Dan Creighton | Going to university...still deciding which one | Going down to the States was a blast! | Pray to God you grow… |
